Structuring Interventions for Children with Neuromotor Impairments – A Multidisciplinary and Family-Centered Approach

9:00 AM - 10:15 AM Thu 19. Jun

Description

Caring for children with neuromotor impairments requires an interdisciplinary, goal-oriented approach that actively involves the family in the treatment process. Training should focus not only on assessment, planning, and implementation, but also on engaging these children in active motor behavior. A course should empower families and treatment teams in decision-making while supporting the child's motor capacities for optimal participation in everyday life.

Human Study developed and piloted a Specialised Course called "Interventions for Children with Neuromotor Impairments – Interdisciplinary and Family-Centered" designed to meet the specific needs of this complex care.

The programme targets professionals from various fields such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthotics, and medicine, enhancing their skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and family-centered treatment planning.

This advanced instructional course demonstrates how to design and implement an interdisciplinary, family-centered intervention program. Participants gain insights into course development, including goal setting, handling classifications with family involvement, utilising a multidisciplinary approach, including paediatric and functional assessments, conducting observational gait analysis, making indications for orthotic care and aid testing, leading to objective outcome measures.

Statement of the objective / learning objectives

The course emphasizes how different health care disciplines can closely collaborate in order to learn from each other regarding working methods and perspectives.
