Future innovators: How the I.S.P.O. 20th World Congress empowers the next generation in assistive technology

The I.S.P.O. 20th World Congress, taking place from 16–19 June 2025 in Stockholm, will not only showcase cutting-edge research and global collaboration – it will also serve as a powerful platform for emerging professionals in prosthetics, orthotics, wheelchairs, other mobility devices, and rehabilitation.

With a growing student community and a dedicated programme for early-career professionals, the Congress is shaping the future of assistive technology and sustainable rehabilitation.

Key highlights of the student & early-career-professional programme include:

3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition:

Students pitch their research live – in just 180 seconds and using one slide only – judged by an expert panel.

Fika & Get-together:

Informal networking sessions designed to help students and early-career professionals connect globally and kickstart their Congress experience.

Reduced student registration fees

The I.S.P.O. Student Hub:

A new digital platform for I.S.P.O. student members to learn, network, and engage in exclusive events.

“I feel it is very important to encourage young innovators, so at this Congress we have created a special area for innovators and start-ups so that they can showcase their ideas and innovations.”

– David Constantine, President I.S.P.O. 2023–2025

With students expected to make up around 10% of all attendees, the World Congress provides a unique opportunity to present research, discover the latest technologies, and build global networks in a dynamic, inclusive environment.
