Global perspectives, real impact: Meet the keynote speakers of ISPO 2027

What does the future of rehabilitation look like – and how can innovation truly reach the people who need it most? At the ISPO 21st World Congress 2027, leading experts from around the world will share their perspectives on advancing assistive technologies, strengthening rehabilitation systems and improving equitable access to mobility.

From system change to cutting-edge technology

The keynote speakers reflect the full spectrum of the field – from global policy and system development to user-centred care and next-generation robotics.

Sisary Kheng (Cambodia)

As CEO of Exceed Worldwide, Sisary Kheng is shaping the future of rehabilitation systems in Southeast Asia and beyond. Through her work, prosthetics and orthotics are increasingly integrated into national healthcare systems, moving away from short-term aid towards sustainable, long-term solutions. Her focus on innovative financing and Universal Health Coverage is redefining access to mobility as a fundamental right.

Natasha Layton (Australia)

Associate Professor Natasha Layton is a leading voice in assistive technology policy and outcomes. Contributing to global frameworks such as the WHO and UNICEF Global Report on Assistive Technology, she works to ensure that assistive solutions are not only innovative, but also accessible, measurable and meaningful for users in diverse contexts worldwide.

Nerrolyn Ramstrand (Sweden)

Professor Nerrolyn Ramstrand brings a strong focus on the lived experience of users. Her research explores how prosthetics and orthotics services can better respond to individual needs and real-life environments – across cultures, countries and healthcare systems. Her work highlights the importance of combining scientific evidence with human-centred care.

Massimo Sartori (The Netherlands)

At the intersection of biology and technology, Professor Massimo Sartori is advancing the next generation of rehabilitation robotics. His research into neuromuscular modelling and wearable technologies is driving the development of exoskeletons and bionic limbs that can restore movement and improve quality of life after injury.

Inspiration beyond science

Complementing the scientific programme, the IC2A Inspirational Lecture will be delivered by Zy Kher Lee, a young para-athlete and student whose story stands for resilience, determination and breaking barriers. His journey – captured in his motto “No Hands, No Legs, No Excuses” – continues to inspire people around the world.

The Knud Jansen Lecture will be announced in due course.

Together, these voices reflect the central idea of ISPO 2027: connecting global expertise to create real-world impact – from technological innovation to equitable access and sustainable rehabilitation systems.
